Our trips are designed for all experience levels, from novice to
expert. For most people who have little or no prior kayaking
experience, paddling comes naturally after a lesson and short
practice on the water.
Sea kayaks are much larger, far more stable and comfortable to
paddle. Steering is simplified with foot-controlled rudder
systems.
You do not have to be an athlete, just reasonably energetic.
Anyone with average upper body strength can paddle comfortably
since our tours are conducted at a relaxing pace, usually with a
stop on an island. Full-day tours stop several times along the
way.
Cotton trousers are most comfortable, shorts on warm days, blue
jeans are OK but not recommended. Sandals are recommended.
You will get your feet wet getting in and out of the kayak and
you may get splashed by your paddle a little. You should not get
soaked, however.
Very unlikely. All kayaks are equipped with positive flotation,
so even full of water they will float.
Yes, if you feel comfortable with it around water. We can provide
you with a dry bag to store it in when you are not using it.
Hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Sneakers or sandals you do not
mind getting wet. Windbreaker, sweatshirt, or jacket. Water,
juice, or snack food. Lunch on full-day tours.
